Fava Beans

A spring treat from the garden!

Fava beans can be confusing but they need not be.

Our favas are harvested at the "double shell" stage. You will need to shell the large beans from their pods and then shell the outer shell from those beans.

Blanching may make this easier. Simply boil the shelled beans for 3-4 minutes in water, rinse to cool and then shell.

The beans are delicious raw, used in pasta dishes or mashed into a dip.
